Alibaba to Offer One Click LCL/FCL Shipping with Maersk
In a move aimed at streamlining international trade for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Alibaba.com and A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) have announced a strategic collaboration that integrates Maersk’s Less than Container Load (LCL) and Full Container Load (FCL) shipping services directly into Alibaba.com’s platform.
This integration allows business buyers on Alibaba.com to book shipping services with a single click, eliminating complexities and providing real-time pricing on bulk shipments ranging from 200 kilograms to 5 tons. The service covers eight non-hazardous goods categories, including apparel, machinery, home goods, and construction materials.

Key Benefits for SMEs
The partnership introduces several advantages tailored to the needs of small businesses engaged in global trade:
- Competitive Rates – SMEs gain direct access to Maersk’s shipping rates, bypassing costly intermediaries.
- Guaranteed Capacity & Fixed Prices – Locking in space and prices helps businesses mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- End-to-End Tracking – Real-time visibility ensures businesses can monitor shipments from factory dispatch to final delivery.

Addressing SME Challenges in Global Trade
With the majority of Alibaba.com’s business buyers being SMEs, high shipping costs and opaque pricing structures have long been barriers to growth. By integrating Maersk’s logistics services, Alibaba.com is removing intermediaries and reducing booking times from days to minutes—a game-changer for businesses looking to scale efficiently.
“SMEs are the backbone of global trade, yet they face disproportionate challenges when it comes to shipping logistics,” said [spokesperson name, if available]. “This partnership directly addresses those pain points, offering transparency, affordability, and reliability in one seamless solution.”
A Rival to Amazon Global Logistics?
Currently Amazon allows sellers to purchase FCL and LCL freight directly into Amazon warehouses through Amazon Global Logistics. However, sellers must book shipping directly into Amazon fulfillment centers and cannot book it to non-Amazon warehouses.
The partnership with Maersk has the potential to allow the convenience of Amazon Global Logistics shipping without using Amazon warehouses.
